October 2018
Dear Parent/Carers of Year 11,
In January, we expect all of our Y11’s to go to York College on the STC day (17th January). Students need to enrol themselves onto this day. This is something we can support in school but can be done at home with you.
We fully appreciate that not everyone wants to go to York College, however this day is a really good opportunity for our students to experience another college environment, trial different subjects and be more independent through the day. They make their own way there, using the college coaches (free of charge on this day), or being dropped off by parents. This is organised through the application process.
To prepare students for this, please encourage them to look through a college prospectus (York if available), to learn about the difference courses and to consider their options for the day. They can also come and speak to Miss Webster at lunch or break to discuss the day, or any career/ life after Barlby queries.
The application process is now open and students can being to apply via the website; https://www.yorkcollege.ac.uk/events-calendar/year-11-taster-days.html
Or if they prefer a paper form, these are available from their form tutors.
With best wishes
Mrs K Wallace Vice Principal Curriculum and Achievement

It was an absolute privilege and delight to watch our Year 10 GCSE Drama students perform Blood Brothers last week. They were brilliant and are a credit to the school. Well done everyone. pic.twitter.com/Ec9D…

Friday saw our second Headteacher's breakfast of 2022, celebrating the achievements of our superb students. They enjoyed a mixture of healthy and not so healthy breakfast treats. Well done everyone! @HopeSentamuLT pic.twitter.com/mdRg…
