Coronavirus update – 17 March 2020

Daily coronavirus update

Dear Parents/Carers,

You’ll probably have seen the updated information regarding self isolation:

  • if you live with others and you or another member of the household have symptoms of coronavirus, then all household members must stay at home and not leave the house for 14 days. The 14-day period starts from the day when the first person in the house became ill. It is likely that people living within a household will infect each other or be infected already. Staying at home for 14 days will greatly reduce the overall amount of infection the household could pass on to others in the community
  • for anyone in the household who starts displaying symptoms, they need to stay at home for 7 days from when the symptoms appeared, regardless of what day they are on in the original 14-day isolation period.

There are some students who think that pretending to cough is a good reason to go home! I understand this as children are children and don’t understand the implications. If we send a child home they must self isolate for 14 days and the whole family must do the same. The symptoms are a high temperature (37.8 degrees and above) and a new continuous cough.

We are in the process of putting learning resources for students onto the school website; we are aiming for this to happen tomorrow and will let you know when this happens. We have contacted you by email to check which students will struggle without IT access and have text any parents who do not have an email address. This enables us to prepare paper copies of work in the event of a closure.

Please be assured that we continue to follow Public Health advice and are carefully considering the needs of students.

With best wishes,

Miss J Caddell
